Danes have traditionally been avid gardeners. Throughout
Denmark almost every home has beautiful flower gardens and where possible, plentiful vegetable gardens. When they immigrated
to Canada, Danes brought these traditions with them. Out of necessity, their vegetable gardens prospered and because
of our love of color and beauty flower gardens became and still are a vital part of Danish Canadian homes.
The Danish Canadian National Museum maintains both the flower
gardens and vegetable gardens to honor these pioneers.

You may then walk along our three pathways through the
natural forest. While enjoying your tranquil stroll through the woods you will be greeted by several Hans Christian
Andersen story sites. Then cross the water to the rest area where you can enjoy looking over the open countryside or
the relaxing view of the gardens, lake and church.
